Chef

A Chef is responsible for preparing all meals served in the Mess Hall and for the food during any diplomatic functions that may be held onboard.

Often, Captain's will make a personal selection for their ship's chef, each one preferring the man or woman they considered to be the best at what they do. Pulling strings to get a specific chef assigned aboard a starship is a practice which dates back to well before the 2150s, with Captain Johnathan Archer stating that he had to pull some strings to get the original Enterprise's chef assigned to the crew.

As a privilege of rank, many flag officers are granted the option of having a personal chef with them on each of their assignments.
