Lieutenant JG Nessa Jane Jenarian is a Federation Starfleet officer serving the 11th Fleet. She is most noted for her service as chief science officer of the USS Endeavour, a Sovereign-class vessel.

This woman stands a diminutive five-feet, her slender body framed by long, dark red hair that flows down to her waist in gentle waves. The deep color contrasts sharply with the very pale tone of her skin. Large, round clear-blue eyes stare out from under her long bangs, the hair very nearly dropping down far enough to obscure her sight, but not quite. Below her eyes is a nose whose tip is slightly pointed and turned upwards. Dark red lips are almost always resting in a position that gives the impression of a pouting child. Her fingers are thin, but long and quite nimble.

History

As a child, Nessa had always been inquisitive in nature ever since her parents died in a car crash when she was six years old and she had to move in with her aunt. The woman refused to introduce a child to the reasons why her parents had died, choosing to go with the 'you are too young to know' excuse. What she failed to realize was that those exact words made Nessa all the more curious. After merely a couple of months, she had learned all there was to know about death and the way a human's body worked. The only problem with the situation being that it left a permanent mark on her. Instead of going out to play with other children or enjoy herself in any way, Nessa simply buried herself in books relating to science in any of its forms. She was practically addicted to knowledge and always sought new things to learn, even going as far as to experiment on her own, sometimes with rather cataclysmic results.

After one such occurrence, her aunt decided that she had had enough of Nessa's attempts at science, so she sent the girl to the Starfleet Academy where she could probably prove herself capable enough to become a science officer. The years at the academy practically flew by Nessa as she busied herself with studying new things and controlled experiments of her own. This left her with practically no social life, as it seemed that she didn't have enough time to learn and try out everything she wanted to, often pausing only to rest for a few hours before going back to studying. This attitude eventually drew the attention of one of the academy tutors. Though she didn't know it at the time, she would soon discover what that interest meant when she received her first assignment.

When she graduated from the academy, she looked a bit resigned. After all, the studies were over and she'd have to figure out a way to resume her work. Ship assignments for the current class came in then and she was surprised to discover that she'd been assigned as a science officer to one of the newest ships of the fleet - the Endeavour. The position she was to have at the ship was left blank, and she wondered what fate had in store for her. Merely a day later, at the budding age of 23, she was on her way in one of the academy's shuttlecrafts, ready to dock with what she would eventually learn to call her new home.

Upon arrival, she was given the greens of a science officer, and to her surprise, the official title of chief science officer was written down by the officer that welcomed her aboard. When she asked why it had been left empty in the first place, he just gave a wink and said, "As per Professor Williams' instructions."
