Physical Appearance/Distinguishing Features

Captain Pike was a slightly tall human male with brown hair and piercing blue eyes. He was not overly handsome like some men, but you knew he was the man in charge. Due to an unfortunate experience onboard a cadet cruise ship, Pike was crippled by delta radiation and was in a chair for the rest of his life.

Personality

Christopher Pike was once a man full of life who enjoyed his friends and held them in high regard. He was a loyal officer and a good friend. However, when after the incident on the cadet ship, he turned sad and withdrew into himself, not talking to others despite his ability to talk with voice synthesizers.

Short Biography

Pike was born in Mojave in the California region of Earth. He would often ride his father's horses through the plains, his favorite being a horse named Tango. He was the first in his family to enter Starfleet and although his father was not happy with his decision at first, later he became very proud of his son. Pike rose through the ranks of security to become a Starfleet captain and commanding officer of the Enterprise. During the last mission of his captaincy, a trail led them from the Rigel system to the Talos sector, leading to a meeting with the Talosians, a group of aliens with enlarged craniums who did experiments on the crew to create a stock of human servants by having Pike mate with a young woman named Vina. When he refused, the aliens placed Pike and the crew in cells in the hope to coerce him into complying with their demands. Pike was able to capture a Talosian in his cell with Spock and Pike's first officer, saying he would kill him if he did not let them go. Pike then released the other crewmembers and Vina, and escaped from the Talosian homeworld. However, this caused Pike to begin to question his own abilities, not least because he was tempted to stay with Vina. Pike was promoted to Fleet Captain and was transferred off the Enterprise whereupon James T. Kirk took command. However, this was short lived as an accident in the engine room caused him to become paralyzed from delta radiation. He was in a facility for the infirm until Commander Spock, his former crewman, tried to help him go to Talos IV once again to experience the illusions that the Talosians were capable of, perhaps even the illusion of being able to walk again. He testified on Spock's behalf to prevent him from being dishonorably discharged from Starfleet. There, Pike lived out the rest of his life in contentment.

Historical/Current Significance

Pike's main historical significance comes from the creation of General Order 7, which states that no starship may approach the Talos system for their own safety. Other than Commander Spock, no one has willingly approached that system to this day.
