Mission Description

Being the third Federation starship to bear the name, the USS Eagle NCC-83704 was one of three Sentinel-class starships undergoing construction at the Utopia Planetia Fleet Yards when her keel was laid in late 2386. Commander Kaleb Porter, having had experience working with the earliest Sentinel-class vessels produced at Utopia Planetia, was selected to oversee the construction and testing of the USS Eagle. The yard teams continued to incorporate new methods and advances learned by those engineers aboard similar vessels already in the field. By early January, the USS Eagle was ready to begin her first warp stress tests under computer control and escorted by the USS Keldon. The results proved so successful that they exceeded the expectations of yard supervisors and construction continued at a steady pace.

The USS Eagle was transferred to McKinley Station in orbit of Earth in mid-February where she began her final preparations for commissioning and launch. It was around this time that Starfleet Command officially tapped Commander Mark Anderson, a veteran of the Dominion War and former executive officer aboard the USS Houston, as the most likely candidate to receive command of the newest Sentinel-class starship. Commander Anderson began the process of reviewing potential candidates for several senior staff positions while working closely with Commander Porter to oversee the final stages of the Eagle's completion.

As the USS Eagle undergoes final preparations for her initial shakedown cruise at McKinley Station in orbit of Earth, crewmembers from all walks of life begin to arrive. Having outperformed all previous expectations, will the Eagle continue to live up to her reputation as she sets out for her first assignment at the furthest reaches of Federation space?
