Physical Description

While Alyssa appears particularly short, topping off at 5'6, and her normally overall pale appearance tends to leave one thinking she is ill, she is actually particularly physically fit, and healthy.

She is particularly conscious of her appearance, and honestly does her best with makeup, hair dye, and tanning creams, to get her "normal" palour is rarely on display. She is somewhat obsessive about her uniform standards, as well, and is rarely seen in a state anyone could accuse of being disheveled.

Her confidence, occasionally mistaken for arrogance or smugness, overall appearance does tend to cause people to think she is hard to approach, or unfriendly.

Personality & Traits

General Overview

Alyssa holds herself to a stern life, lacking in a great many "casual" things. She isn't unsociable, or unfriendly, she just comes across as driven, and perhaps a touch boring.

She has a somewhat understandable phobia of planetary life. Her father's genetic gift was an allergy to the sunlight typically found on most class M planets, leaving her nearly constantly living within an environmental suit that screens out certain aspects of the UV spectrum. The artificial lightning found on most Starfleet Ships and Starbases, however, require far less screening, and can be set to automatically screen it out, in the presence of her comm badge, thus making her career choice something of a no-brainer.

Strengths & Weaknesses

With the obvious weakness of an aversion to natural sunlight, and an overall difficulty grabbing items off the top shelf of cupboards set aside, Alyssa's driven nature is both a blessing and a curse, which has gotten her in trouble in the past.

While she is very capable of her job, she has an occasional issue following orders that go against her normally well hidden humanitarian desire to protect people, causing some in Starfleet HQ to ask if she'd be a better diplomat, than a security officer, which likely explains her posting to a Diplomatic Corvette.

Hobbies & Interests

Alyssa is no more interesting in private, than people would anticipate from working with her. Outside of her somewhat excessive work out routine, Alyssa's extracurricular activities include such exciting things as... Meditating in any available green spaces, reading, and occasionally treating herself to a holonovel.

History

Alyssa grew up in the same somewhat reclusive life as her father, following her mother around on diplomatic trips, and literally living in the specially lit ship that they used for traveling in. She took her schooling via remote connections, and was generally not a sociable person.

Her decision to enroll in Starfleet academy was met with a lot of resistance from her pacifist parents, however, being the driven, and self-reliant person she became in her reclusive life, she did it anyway.

Her actual time during Starfleet Academy was quite a growth period for her, as she began exploring how different other people are. Her unique dress habits of wearing gloves, and a veil, to screen her face and hands, did put some people off, however. Her private nature didn't help.
