In 2387, a star near Romulus called Hobus went supernova, but was dampened by Spock's efforts. The nova scorched much of the surface of the planet, and severely lowered the Romulan population, but did not destroy them. Parts of the planet remain habitable, though all of Romulus is now highly inhospitable.

The Romulan Star Empire was able to evacuate much of their people before the nova hit, but still took a hit. The Empire is still alive, though, with the Praetor still alive and well, leading things forward. The Federation had worked hard to provide aid to the Romulans and tensions there are easing.

Destruction of Romulus (Canon)

In 2387, a star near Romulus called Hobus went supernova, wiping the planet and all life on it out of the galaxy forever.

PF Aftermath Estimation

The Romulan Star Empire was taken from a thriving, powerful force to a few dozen thousand survivors scattered throughout the galaxy. While the Romulan government remains in some form, it's weakened, and many Romulans are just happy for a place to live and a chance to thrive after the destruction of their home world. All that is left of Romulus is an asteroid field where the planet once was. Starfleet has indicated that their may be future efforts to perform archaeological digs on the larger rocks in that field to see if any Romulan culture of relics can be found to help preserve the Romulans history.

  • Estimated Surviving Romulans: 60,000~
  • Estimated Surviving Ships: 100 (All classes inclusive)

Hobus was utterly destroyed, and most of it's mass was absorbed by the singularity created by Ambassador Spock. Only a faint nebula remains around the singularity, known as the Hobus Nebula.
