The USS Vanguard (NCC-79528) is a Sovereign class starship commissioned in 2389 under the command of Jacob Dawkins. Named the Vanguard to inspire in the hearts of those she protects that the Federation is truly still standing at the forefront of all things. As such she was deployed with the intention of deep space exploration and patrol in the most dangerous and hostile areas in the post-war Federation. After a two year shake down, she was reassigned to the galactic south to join the 11th Fleet. In 2393 the USS Vanguard was recommissioned after being decommissioned a couple of years earlier, she is now assigned to the Northern Expanse and TF56 under the command of Commander Jhamal P'Trell.

History

Construction and Launch

Her keel was laid down in 2387. When the Hobus Super Nova devastated the Romulan Star Empire construction was expedited. She launched two years later under the command of Captain Jacob Dawkins

In Service

She was deployed to Romulan space to assist in humanitarian aid and rescue efforts as well as defense patrol for the wounded empire. Over the course of two years the crew became quite seasoned and the ships various new systems were tested and broken in. As the tensions along the borders in the south reached all-time highs, the Vanguard was re-deployed into the 11th fleet where she currently resides.
