Hobbies & Interests
Father: John Constantine - Armed with a no-nonsense personality and a strong work ethic. John taught the girls the importance of hard work and the fruits of such labor. He did not agree with Anastasia's more positive outlook on the universe preparing and educating the girls on the perils that existed outside of Betazed. He wished them to see the universe for what it was and not as a 'fairy tale'.
Mother: Anastasia Constantine - A strict feminist who instilled the importance of a good heart and a strong will into her daughters. Anastasia always told the girls not to think themselves as less than men and that determination could drive them to an unseen potential. Her nurturing personality would manifest itself differently on each sibling however it would not be lost on either. Myralia would hone this trait as the baseline for her future progression into counselling and expertise in PTSD whilst Veronica would mask it instead choosing to use it only when Myralia was not watching.
Sister: Commodore Veronica Constantine - Lieutenant Constantine's sister Veronica currently serves as the Commandant of the 11th Fleet's division of Starfleet Academy. The two share a turbulent relationship with Myralia often submitting to Veronica's dominant personality. Myralia believes the once friendly competition as children has no turned into a heated rivalry over whom is the better sibling. However recent events have made Myralia question this as she has found Veronica in close proximity to her when she is faced with troublesome situations especially prevalent during her transfer to the 11th Fleet. Despite the rivalry Myralia will always rush to her sister's aid and most recently stopped Veronica from resigning her fleet position during a troubled episode.
Myralia was born in a rural community just outside the Betazed capital on July 27th 2355. She was the second child to John and Anastasia Constantine whom had another girl, Veronica 3 years earlier. Her early years were filled with nurturing care from her parents and given all the pleasures that a small child of Betazed could want. However when Myralia was five, the Constantine's left Betazed when Anastasia's mother on earth became gravely ill and her father was unable to care for her. Without thought, the family picked up and moved to the rural farm on earth.
It was in these years that followed that a rivalry between Myralia and Veronica began to form. The two sisters were always in direct competition for the approval of their parents but often Veronica would bear over the younger Myralia. At times Veronica would become overly tough on her smaller sister spatting harsh criticism and giving her 'tough' lessons such as having to deal with lesser injuries to herself on her own.
Some, most likely her parents would have disapproved of this unseen rivalry and the actions of Veronica however it would serve to build the backbone of Myralia's strong will. Unlike Veronica, Myralia would openly exhibit the same nurturing attitude passed onto her from her mother. Once her mother had tripped on a rock and scraped her knee and Myralia came running with a fresh towel and bandage to dress the wound.
Into the teenage years the sibling rivalry would continue but Veronica soon believed herself to win over Myralia as when Veronica reached eighteen she left the farm to join Starfleet. Although the act made Myralia jealous as she could not join at the age of 15, she still wished the best for her sister and was sad to see her leave.
At age 16, Myralia met up with her first love in the form of her classmate Jason Stillman. The relationship began as a typical high school crush but Myralia's betazoid heritage gave her a maturity beyond most females her age and as such the relationship soon blossomed within the coming year.
Upon reaching the age of 17, Myralia had moved away from the farm to an apartment in the city with Jason much to the pleasure of her parents whom shared the strong Betazoid beliefs. After Myralia had settled in with Jason she soon found it hard to find herself coming to ground so quickly. The prospect of marriage and children made her uneasy as she felt she had so much to give to the world and others, but she had not yet had the opportunity.
Shortly following her 18th birthday after living with Jason for one year he proposed to her. As much as Myralia loved him and wanted to say yes, her heart could not bring herself to betray him and mask her real intentions and as such, she told him that she could not marry him, because she belonged in Starfleet. 2 Weeks later, Myralia was on her way to Starfleet Academy as a Counselling cadet.
Starfleet Marine Corps Academy
Upon graduating from the Frankfurt Institute Jailynn and Amarylis pursued careers in the Starfleet Marine Corps and were enlisted into the Starfleet Marine Academy. Due to the dwindling forces and dire straits Starfleet was facing in the war, Jailynn and Amarylis were deployed on their first assignment to fight in the Dominion War. In one particular instance Jailynn and Amarylis were sent on a boarding party to investigate a ship suspected of supplying the Dominion front lines. While surveying the ship the team was ambushed by a strong enemy resistance quickly devastating their numbers. Despite lacking any formal training and combat experience Jailynn and Amarylis held the position until their vessel could provide reinforcements saving the lives of two of their team members. Unfortunately their squad commander was unable to promote them for their valor, the sisters were awarded bravery medals for their actions.
Return to Starfleet Marine Corps Academy
Now 'seasoned' with combat experience and with the end of the Dominion War. Jailynn, Amarylis and the other recruits were returned to the Starfleet Marine Academy to undergo the requisite formal training for recruits. The two along with their superiors from the war thought the training unnecessary as combat had given them lessons the academy could not. To the Academy staff the sisters would be thought of as cocky and over confident. This attitude caught the attention of a Master Sergeant Perkins whom made it his mission to humble the so called 'veterans'. He would present the sisters with physical and mental challenges suited for marines with far more time in then they. At times Amarylis would become frustrated by the Master Sergeant's methods however Jailynn reassured her he was playing mind games and together they would push forward.
After successful completion of her training at Starfleet Marine Academy Jailynn and Amarylis would be promoted to Corporal but separated for the first time in their careers with Jailynn being assigned to the USS Tiamat and Amarylis assigned to the USS Thor. With the Dominion still reeling from the loss of the great war Jailynn found herself spending most of her time on the holodeck honing her skills through simulations. Although she was very social and bonded well with her crewmates Jailynn stayed away from any relationships instead maintaining her focus on her career. She was hesitant to commit to one person and risk being 'tied down' to a specific assignment or posting. Jailynn was not one to make a commitment unless her heart was completely in it and as such could not make a promise of marriage or even a relationship to a man.
Jailynn is promoted to Sergeant and assigned aboard the USS Atlantis. Upon her arrival she was informed she was to be part of a covert mission on Romulus to explore reports of a new cloaking technology that would shift the balance of power in the quadrant. Jailynn and a team were to go to Romulus and confirm it's existence. The team would get themselves to Romulus via supply freighters and through backdoor deals. Getting to the technology would prove not only a challenge but also entail a great deal of patience. Jailynn and her team would have to be methodical and become shadows in their surroundings to come upon the information required to reveal the location of the device. This assignment would also cause Jailynn to have to step beyond her boundaries and engage in a fake relationship with a Romulan scientist under the guise of a wandering trader. This charade carried on for several months and with each passing day placed an increased strain on her mind. Eventually the team would successfully find the cloaking device and be extracted from Romulus.
After her assignment on the Atlantis Jailynn chose to take a commission and became a Security Officer wishing to leave behind the memories of Romulus and the Marine Corps, however she could not fully give up what she knew she excelled at. She would submerse herself in her studies to keep herself off the radars of any prying eyes and counselors looking to help her deal with her demons. Jailynn had always been taught by her father to fight through the tough times and to always be strong so she could aid those who were not. Thus her marks woulld excel, but her social life was non-existent.
Upon her graduation from Starfleet Academy, her instructors noted her talent for understanding both the roles of an officer on the ground as well as that of an overseer. As such she was placed in the Basic Special Ops course at Starfleet Security and promoted to Lt(JG) to reflect her past experience as a marine. Still reminscing of Romulus she reluctantly accepted the course knowing it would further advance her career. Once she completed the course she was assigned to the USS Talon as a Security Officer. Her assignment was mostly routine until she was given an assignment by her Captain. The assignment would involve a Romulan scientist suspected of illegally acquiring Starfleet secrets. Jailynn would be dispatched to a planet near the Romulan Neutral Zone to investigate the validity and severity of the situation. However the pain of her memories from the Atlantis were still too fresh and Jailynn felt it too great a distraction and thus rejected the assignment.
This incident would be followed by an inquiry launched by the ship's Commanding Officer and the counselor into Jailynn's mental state. After several tough and revealing sessions Jailynn revealed to the counselor what had transpired on Romulus and as such was diagnosed with mild PTSD.
