While awaiting her crew, the newly commissioned USS Washington, Sovereign class, launches on a tour of the Federation for her shakedown cruise. But things are not yet quite right with the ship. Replicators give the wrong food. The library gives the wrong books. Life is never dull in Starfleet...

Summary

The USS Washington sets out on its maiden voyage under the command of Commander Aishel Enor. A standard shakedown cruise, they fly towards the Romulan Neutral Zone and begin to experience equipment failures. When Commander Enor asks for music, she receives a reading of Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone. Forced to manually tell the computer to stop, she contacts Lieutenant JG Pamela Roth and asks for an opinion. Roth is now of the opinion that the computer voice recognition protocols were shorting out. When asked for coffee, the replicator gives Gunnery Sergeant Bo Manning tomato soup. Eventually it is fixed inside the computer core thanks to Lieutenant JG Roth and Ensign Lien Ming and the USS Washington can continue on its way.
