The USS Nakatomi is ordered to patrol a region of space where the Klingons and Romulans are at a standoff following the Hobus disaster, and the region is a hotbed where anything could set of a volatile situation between the two superpowers. The primary goal of the Nakatomi is to make certain that a conflict does not spill over into Federation space while providing support to their allies the Klingon Empire should they need it.
The Ronin-class starship U.S.S. Nakatomi finds themselves patrolling the border shared by the Klingons, Federation, and Romulans when the sudden appearance of a distress signal just out of the Federation Border and between the Romulan and Klingon Border catches their attention. The signal is coming from the starship U.S.S. Jakarta NX-19 a vessel from the early days of the United Federation of Planets.
