The USS Thames (NCC-80629) is a 24th century Federation Norway-class starship operated by Starfleet. It is assigned to the Eleventh Fleet with a mission to protect Federation interests, to help those in need, and to deepen Starfleet's understanding of the region known as Galactic South. The Thames is currently under the command of Commander Cassius Whittemore.

The Thames was built at New Aberdeen Shipyards in the Aldebaran system as part of Starfleet's continued effort to update and diversify its resources. It was one of two Norway-class vessels being built at the time with construction overseen by Lieutenant Commander Nedria Prol. Continued advances in warp-field generation, power distribution efficiency, as well as other design elements from analysis of the USS Voyager's sojourn in the Delta Quadrant were incorporated into the development process.

In the year 2388, the Thames was launched from the New Aberdeen Shipyards. Final systems completion and shakedown was conducted before command of the ship was turned over to Captain Vandal sh'Raazni.
